I feel truly embarrassed. Although I am the leader of the farming team, it was only this year that I formally learned how to plant: turning the soil, sowing, transplanting seedlings, and fertilising. After a whole year of agricultural training, I have some reflections I'd like to share with everyone.
Zen Master Seung Sahn has a kong-an - Why do we eat every day?
Why do seeds turn into food? Why is food given for sentient beings to eat?
During the farming process we encounter failures, adjustments, and needed to communicate, listen, observe, accept, and let go... This is precisely the process of learning how to live with others in life -
• Use your eyes to notice what is happening in the moment;
• Use your ears to listen to the Dharma teacher and fellow practitioners' opinions;
• Learn to speak with humility;
• Let go of your own views and ideas;
• Accept your own shortcomings and mistakes;
• Keep noticing that there is much you can still improve
This is Keong Jung's brief experience this year. If there are parts I didn't express well, please don't hit me thirty times. Keong Jung blesses everyone.
