On the second last day of the journey, the sangha members departed from Gyeongju early in the morning and headed to Hwagyesa Temple in Seoul.
Zen Master Seung Sahn, the founder and patriarch of the International Kwan Um School of Zen, once served as the abbot of Hwagyesa Temple and established our School there. Therefore, Hwagyesa Temple has a sacred connection with Subong Zen Monastery.
After lunch, the abbot of Hwagyesa Temple gave us a Dharma talk, encouraging everyone to practice diligently. He personally gave each person a set of prayer beads, which deeply moved everyone! Then, we visited the former residence of Zen Master Seung Sahn (now a memorial hall) to reminisce about his life and practices. After visiting Hwagyesa Temple, there was free time for everyone before the end of the trip! The next day, as the journey came to an end, we bid farewell to the sangha members of Musangsa who had accompanied us for many days. We headed to the airport, filling with Dharma joy and gratefully looking forward to meeting again.
