Led by Zen Master Dae Kwan and Bon Sun Sunim JDPS, the sangha members of Su Bong Zen Monastery embarked on a six-day pilgrimage to our ancestral temple in Korea. Prior to departure, Sifu reminded everyone to maintain a clear mind for a fulfilling journey of learning.
The first stop was Musangsa, located in Gyeryongsan, one of Korea’s four famous mountains. Founded in Year 2000 under the guidance of Zen Master Seung Sahn, Musangsa is the head temple of International Kwan Um School of Zen in Asia. Besides experiencing the tranquillity of the practice site, we had the opportunity to participate in the joint practice and dharma teachings led by Zen Master Dae Bong and Zen Master Tan Wol, filling everyone with dharma joy.
Next, we visited Sinwonsa. Established in Year 651, Sinwonsa has been visited by royal family members of various dynasties in Korea. Listening to the abbot recounting the Sinwonsa’s long history and the Sifu’s sharing of her first experience participating in the temple’s Winter Kyol Che, we deeply felt the indomitable spirit and steadfast practice of all the great masters, serving as great models for us Zen practitioners.
