In Zen Buddhism, we often hear that nature is our teacher, and that we should “Hit!” and return to a zero-mind, as Zen Master Dae Kwan teaches us. How can we put these into practice?
The July 2 “Click Become One” photo-taking workshop was a good occasion. Undeterred by pouring rain, a group of spirited Zen students, under the guidance of Zen Master Dae Kwan and Bon Sun Sunim JDPS, took photographs with their mobile phones in the natural environment of Gak Su Temple to experience for themselves what the teaching is about.
Click and Hit! Our fingers, phones, the mountains, rivers, flowers and trees, everything in the universe becomes one. By returning to a zero-mind, our innate wisdom, complete in itself, arises naturally.
Students at the workshop are happy to share their work and experiences. Each photograph is a representation of the Dharma they’ve learned from nature. Let’s take a look and share their joy too!
